2016 budget goes missing at the National Assembly

Just as the country’s senate resumes plenary after the Christmas break today, the 2016 budget proposal submitted to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari has come up missing, the Daily Trust is reporting.

Buhari had on December, 22, 2015, presented the budget proposal to the joint session of the National Assembly.

The budget has come under intense criticism from Nigerians due to some frivolous allocations made at a time the government is asking Nigerians to make sacrifices due to the downturn in the economy.
The senate is due to start deliberation of the budget later this week.
According to the Daily Trust, the disappearance of the budget document was announced during a closed door session that lasted 90 minutes.
Senators told the Daily Trust correspondent that the disappearance of the budget was announced by the Senate Leader Ali Ndume during the closed-door session.
