NAF Launches New Scheme for Youth Empowerment (Photos)

The Nigerian Air Force today launched a new programme for youth empowerment called ‘Barracks Youth Empowerment Through Agriculture (BYETA)’. Besides creating employment opportunities, the scheme provides another human dimension to curbing social vices, restiveness and crime among youths in the barracks.
The aim of the scheme is to promote agriculture and employment among youths on NAF Bases. The scheme leverages on the new agricultural policy of the Federal Government tagged ‘The Green Alternative’ which is aimed at diversifying the nation’s economy through agriculture.
The scheme flags-off today in Makurdi and will be replicated in all NAF Commands. It is to be implemented under a Cooperative Agricultural Skills Acquisition Centre established by each NAF Command Headquarter to administer, train and process funds, on behalf of participants, from corporate organisations and government agencies. Areas of focus by the scheme for now include poultry, fishery and crops farming.
