Wife of Ebola Survivor Delivers Baby Girl

The wife of a third Ebola survivor has delivered a baby girl in Lagos State, Nigeria’s commercial capital. This was revealed on Wednesday by the Medical Director, First Consultants Medical Centre, Dr. Benjamin Ohiaeri.

According to the medic, “The baby girl, weighing 3.1kg at birth, a product of a term gestation was delivered following strict guidelines and recommendations of the Centre for Disease Control (CDC), USA, through the pre-natal and delivery stages”.

The couple, Dr. Akinniyi Fadipe and his wife, Mrs Modupe Fadipe, both tested negative for the Ebola virus and its antibodies.

This is coming barely a month since the wife of another survivor, Dr. Adewale Adejoro, was delivered of a healthy Ebola-free baby girl.

In November 2015, First Consultant Medical Centre celebrated Dr Ada Igonoh’s safe delivery of a baby girl in the United States.

First Consultant Medical Centre, Lagos, is the same hospital where the index case of Ebola in Nigeria, Patrick Sawyer, was treated.
