Konga CEO, Sim Shagaya Resigns as the CEO

Reports are in that Sim Shagaya, the founder of popular Nigerian online mall, Konga.com, has resigned from his position as the CEO of the company after he was appointed the new chairman by the Board of Directors.The new development was made after Shagaya paid a recent visit to Konga’s investors in Amsterdam and was appointed the new chairman. In the interim, the Chief Operating Officer at Konga, Shola Adekoya, will take over as CEO pending the screening and appointment of a new CEO. The announcement was reportedly made via mail to the staff of Konga.

The decision was made to enable Shagaya focus more on the long term vision and strategy of the company. His new role as Chairman will also give him the opportunity to interface with key stakeholders including investors and the government. Konga was founded in 2012 and has since become a household name in the e-Commerce industry.
