World football governing body, FIFA, has sacked its suspended General Secretary, Jerome Valcke.
The 55-year-old Valcke –a loyal lieutenant of the banned outgoing president Sepp Blatter, had been serving a 90-day ban since October for alleged involvement in the money laundering and racketeering scandal that has engulfed the Zurich-based body.
This comes after the FIFA independent Ethics committee last week opened formal proceedings at the behest of its investigators, who sought a nine-year ban for the Frenchman.
