A War Against Indiscipline (WAI) official attached to the Lagos State Taskforce on Environment, Oseni Rilwan was on Monday assaulted by some hoodlums in Oshodi.
Rilwan who was among the team that went to enforce the Lagos Traffic Law under the bridge at Oshodi, had two of his fingers chopped off by angry commercial drivers and touts.
He was also stabbed on the head with blood gushing all over his body. Trouble started after men of the Taskforce impounded six commercial buses and arrested some drivers who allegedly obstructed traffic and caused spill over on the busy road.
Angered by this development, the hoodlums were said to have stoned members of the Taskforce with broken bottles, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
It was in the process that Rilwan got injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
Confirming the development, the police command’s spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, an SP, warned motorists to comply with the traffic laws or face the full wrath of the law.
